Area 5's Probability Fair

Today was the end of our probability unit and all the students had a chance to share and play their probability games. Some of us made a lot of (fake) money and we all had a lot of fun!

We learned that:
  • Games that were presented well received lots of players.
  • Having someone who was good at enticing people to play helped.
  • Simple games were easier to understand and play.
  • It's important to make sure the probability of winning isn't too high (otherwise you won't make any money).
  • It's also important not to have prizes that are too big (otherwise you will go bankrupt).

Vote for Louis' audible dog locator!

In Term 2 we all explored science through our Science Fair projects. One of the students in our Area created an amazing invention (an audible dog locator) and now it it up for a special award. Click on the picture below to watch a short clip about his invention and don't forget to VOTE for him if you think his invention is impressive too!

WW1 presentation day newspaper article

At the end of Term 3 we presented our WW1 inquiries to some members of our local RSA and a reporter from the Howick and Pakuranga Times. Here is the link to the article she wrote about us:

Mandarin lesson: Birthdays

These characters say, "Happy Birthday," in Mandarin:

Mandarin lesson: Likes, dislikes and animals

This week we learnt how to talk about our likes and dislikes.

We also learned some animal names to help us practise this phrase.
